Easter snapshots

Easter. Holidaying on the beautiful British south coast, this is East Wittering beach on a gorgeous sunny morning. The boys loved running at and from the sea, collecting stones - we have a big pile outside the front door - and eating fish and chips (me too).

My current crocheting - this is a blanket from an issue of Mollie Makes. Using up all the odds and ends of double knitting in my stash.

And my current reading pile - feel this sums me up rather nicely! Sewing, crocheting, eating and music.

This week I also started Zombies, run!. It's similar to the NHS Couch to 5k programme which I previously completed last year, but returned to sitting on the sofa afterwards. This one trains you up to run from zombies and incorporates your own music, which I love. It's very motivating when you hear the zombies groaning in your ear - although I haven't found out yet what happens if they were to catch me....

This week

Making:

- birthday bunting for a soon-to-be 3 year old girl, whose favourite colour is orange.

- a quilt for my god-daughter.

- signs and bunting for my eldest's Superhero birthday party. He's going to be a very grown-up 5 (sob).

Admiring:

- my luscious new selection of printed linen which came in the post today. What to make, what to make?!

- my new foxy cushion, cheering up my reading chair a treat.

It's been a busy week, but filled with things I love. Signs of Spring are all around - the garden literally springing into life in front of my eyes, putting away the winter coats, buying school shorts, a trip to the local shops on my bike, and the Easter holidays about to start...!

A week in lists...

Making - a crochet hexagon cover for an old and ripped pouffe. An orange and yellow canvas shopper. Fox badges from Mollie Makes for a friend's birthday.

Reading - 'The Goldfinch' by Donna Tartt. One chapter in and hooked already. A lot of Sherlock fanfic.

Watching - the first season of 'Elementary' in an effort to get over my BBC Sherlock obsession (not working). The second season of 'Homeland'.

Listening to - 'Reflecktor' by Arcade Fire. The Libertines. Carole King.

Drinking - lemon and ginger tea in the morning. A nice glass of red in the evenings.

Eating - scrambled eggs for breakfast. Avocado and prawn salad for lunch. Chicken curry for dinner.

Wishing - I could be more organised.

Hoping - it will stop raining in time for the school/nursery run.

A colourful patchwork blanket

A square a day for the past twenty days. Bobble stitch, cross stitch, ribbing.

Ok. Sometimes more than one square a day. These little devils are ADDICTIVE.

I like to pile them up in colour or stitch order. And rub my fingers over the delightfully tactile bobble stitch squares.

They are eventually going to be turned into a patchwork blanket. Initially for a friend, but I can't help falling in love with it. No timescales, just soothing crochet. One a day. At least.

It's going to look fab draped over the back of my her sofa. Or on the end of my her bed.

Do you have a hard time giving your makes away?
